2021 has been the worst year of my life and that’s solely because I lost my father in 2021. Well, that lost is irreplaceable and unexplainable and nothing/nobody can ever change that. The memories of his death still haunts me. But, keeping aside the fact that I can’t ever get papa back and I blame this sucky year for that, 2021 taught me a lot of things which I don’t think I would have learnt any other way:
1. Death is inevitable. We all are going to die and thats a solid reason to make the most of this life. Do what makes you happy. Work hard party harder.
2. Help yourself. Nobody but you should be responsible for your own life. Keep some money aside for the unfortunate times. Secure your and your family’s future. Get medical insurances. God help them who help themselves.
3. Expect nothing. This one is the toughest but expectations only cause sadness. Don’t expect people to come and spoon-feed you. Take the steering of your life in our own hands. Its your life and your problems and you only should find solutions for them. People who actually love you will be standing right by your side; no matter what.
4. Decrease your dependency. Be financially and emotionally independent. Express what you feel, say what you feel. Do not keep things inside. Choose to speak over silence. Open up. Exhale.
5. Be grateful. Do not skip a chance to celebrate. Celebrate everything; no matter how small the win seems. Life, my friend, is in the little things.
6. Make time for the things/people you love. Period.
7. Learn to manage your stress. Understand what helps you handle your stress better and abide by it. Be it exercising, dancing, watching movies, reading, anything. Many of us lack at the stress management and/or end up blasting when the stress piles up beyond our control.
8. Move on. Don’t get too comfortable. Too much comfort won’t take you anywhere. Keep hustling. Keep navigating towards the goals that you actually want to attain.
9. Be the Hero of your life. Take care of your physical and mental health. Eat well. Sleep well. Exercise. Choose yourself, everyday.
10. Be what you are. Do not bother about what people think about you. Its their problem and not yours. Its your life and you live it on your own terms. Choose your battles. Do not go arguing with the wall. Choose calm. Say good bye to chaotic people and places. Declutter your wardrobe, your thoughts, and your life. Be thankful. Be very very thankful for all you have been blessed with. Help people in need. Be empathetic. Remember, once the show is over; king and pawns go in the same box.
Let’s see what 2022 has in store for me. Keeping my fingers crossed.
